dsibbo Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I have just installed AutoCAD 2014 with our company update and I am having problems using our tool palettes. When I click the buttons on the palette to load our blocks I get the message below: Has anyone had a similar problem and know how to fix this. My colleague has the same problem. I've checked the directorys of the tool palettes and they are routing to the correct location. Quote
SLW210 Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Did you explore the possible causes given? Did IT install AutoCAD 2014? A repair may resolve this, but you may need to reinstall. Quote
dsibbo Posted August 15, 2013 Author Posted August 15, 2013 (edited) Did you explore the possible causes given? Did IT install AutoCAD 2014? A repair may resolve this, but you may need to reinstall. I've repaired it, resinstalled it, installed AutoCAD MEP & AutoCAD architecture alongside it. Still the same problem. I've reopened CAD 11 and the palettes work fine here, just seem to be with this new install. The blocks within the palettes have been created as AutoCAD blocks and are saved on our shared drive. Chilidawg Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Just a wild gues, but can you open the blocks without using the tool pallette? do they need to be resaved using the newer version of autocad? Quote
dsibbo Posted August 16, 2013 Author Posted August 16, 2013 Just a wild gues, but can you open the blocks without using the tool pallette? do they need to be resaved using the newer version of autocad? Just opened a few blocks in the latest ACAD 2014 and saved them. Then tried using the palettes but still get the same pop up. I then opened 2014 cad again and located my blocks via the design centre and used 'create tool palettes of blocks' and a new palette appears but the file name shows but the blocks don't show on it. SLW210 Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 You might want to contact Autodesk on this matter. Quote
ReMark Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 No the blocks don't have to be resaved as they are DWG files which any later version of AutoCAD should open with no problem. When you installed 2014 did you also install service pack 1.1? Did you temporarily disable the UAC and your anti-virus program during the installation process? Have you tried a REPAIR of the installation? Are the blocks stored on a network drive? Quote

I have run a repair and resinstall of the software. I'm going to try giving autodesk a go and see what they say. It appears it is a common problem http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?45116-quot-Unable-to-execute-tool-quot-on-tool-palettes Quote
