Someone please tell me the procedure for adding a new printer to my Autocad 2000, or 2007.

Thank you

In AutoCAD 2007 can't you do it via the Add a Plotter wizard? To do this open the AutoDesk Plotter Manager. The entire procedure is laid out for you in your Help files. Find and read the topic: "To configure a local, non-system plotter."

When running any app under the Windows OS you don't add a new printer using the App, although there may be exceptions I don't know about. You add a new printer to Windows and your app, in this case AutoCAD, will see that printer/plotter device and you will be able to use it. Like ReMark mentions, you can use AutoCAD to do this but typically you add a new device using the Windows interface. You will make the best decision, but as I see it, both methods will accomplish the same results.

I generally do it via Windows myself but I do know people who only do it through AutoCAD.

This is weird. The config window tells me that it does not see the printer or the driver is missing, when in fact this printer is connected by cable to this computer, of course the printer software is installed along with the driver, and I have been doing all my printing with it. It tells me that the printer that I select, which is HP Photosmart 5520 is substitued by "None".

Incidentally, I followed your original advice and had no problem adding the printer to Autocad 2007, it is v 2000 that I am having the grief with, if that at all matters.

reggy I think that this is what Bill Tillman &ReMark have already told you but in the Window Desktop did you go to

CONTROL PANEL

click on PRINTERS or (printers/fax)

is the printer that you want to use listed there ?

if so is it marked as the DEFAULT printer ?
