I need help creating blocks:

1- I want a dynamic block that could change layers automatically, for example: in a new post above the layer is cyan and yellow on the new post below the layer is green. How do I set the block to change layers automatically.

2- how can I incorporate the 45 degree line and letters so it can appear only once at each corner and also with the ability to stretch the line with the text in case the drawing is to crowded.

thank you.

When blocks are created on layer "0" as they are inserted they automatically take on the characteristics (layer color and linetype). That isn't good enough for you?

not enough, I was looking into ways to manipulate layers in a block

There are no parameters or actions that I know of specific to layers when it comes to dynamic blocks.

Re: 45 deg line. I would suggest using a Visibility parameter to handle the four corners. You can use a Linear parameter with a Stretch action for controlling the length of the line.

Remark: Do you know any good book that will teach how to do sophisticated dynamic blocks. I need some kind of fast teaching tool to do dyn blks because i do not have the a lot time to explore how all dyn blocks commands.

Thank you for the help

Search the course database for AutoDesk Online for courses about Dynamic Blocks. You can download the class handouts and read/study them at your leisure.

If you specified what you were hoping to accomplish with the manipulations, there may be some good ideas on alternatives to manipulating layers in a block. Object visibility within dynamic blocks is an easy feature. You can make some objects color ByLayer, others color ByBlock, others preset to a layer, etc.
