PaddlesUpRiver Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Can you tell me how the transition from AutoCAD C3D 2013 to AutoCAD 2014 has been for you? I'd like to know before I switch over my project and risk getting everything screwed up. Any major issues? bugs? compatibility? Is 2014 any better than 2013, maybe I should just wait for 2015... ReMark Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 (edited) Unless the new release added some functionality that you really need most users can skip a release (or even two). Have you bothered to check what was added to the 2014 version? Have you looked to see how many service packs have been issued for Civil 3D 2014? This might be of some interest to you... http://beingcivil.typepad.com/my_weblog/2013/03/autocad-civil-3d-2014-new-feature-.html As well as this... http://beingcivil.typepad.com/my_weblog/2013/04/autocad-civil-3d-2014-new-feature-round-tripping-data-between-autocad-civil-3d-2013-and-2014.html And if that is not enough there is also this... http://www.thecadmasters.com/wordpress/index.php/2013/04/08/civil-3d-2014top-new-features/ Edited September 4, 2013 by ReMark Quote

PEGAdevelopment Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 My boss still has Autocad Civil 3D 2013 (because he wanted to wait to upgrade like you) and I have Autocad Civil 3d 2014, since I needed the ability to dref pipe AND pressure networks. We have had some compatibility issues to say the least. One day it let him edit a profile that was dref'd in, whereas it was uneditable on my version. So he made changes. If he opened the drawing it had his changes. If I opened the drawing it didn't have any changes, but it did give me an error message about changes that were made in the previous version of the software and couldn't be updated. As far as Autocad Civil 3D 2014 within itself, I think it does okay. My biggest problem is when I save a drawing like I want it, with layer states and all; then I reopen the drawing and all these random layers are on/off and the layer states don't work. Irritating. This is a documented bug. Sometimes my xref's disappear and have to be reinserted. Grading tools are a bit buggy. Sometimes my grading creation tools are all grayed out and unselectable. They come back, but I haven't figured out exactly how I did it yet. Quote
PEGAdevelopment Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 One of my xrefs have disappeared twice today. Two different ones! GGggrrr! Quote
JerryG Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Interesting. I am running Civil 3d 14 with none of those issues. It seams to be more stable than 13 but otherwise I really dont notice much difference. Quote
