eshhy Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Hi all this is my first post on here, don't disappoint me =] lol jkjk basically I'm running autoCAD on mac os using a program called vmware fusion. It basically runs windows in as an application/program. I am also on a mac book pro. So everything is working fine accept for one thing. When i try to 'erase' some lines for example by hitting the 'delete' key on my macbook key board, it doesn't work. FIY the delete key on a mbp is pretty much the same as the the backspace key on normal pc keyboards. Ive trying to bind the 'delete' key to the 'erase' function in the CUI but it doesnt work either! Does anyone know a work around (or alternatives) for this? I wouldn't expect everyone to know this, but maybe there is someone in the same or similar situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards Nathan Quote

Regards Nathan Check your PICKFIRST system variable. If it is set to 0, selecting the object and then hitting 'delete' or 'erase' won't work. Set it it 1 and it should work fine. Quote

I don't use a mac but I like the way you call machines other than the mac 'normal'. However, you mentioned that the backspace keys on both machines work in a similar way. Using AutoCAD on my machine, the backspace key won't erase a selected object. There is a separate 'delete' key that needs to be used. So maybe that is where the problem is? I always use the 'erase' command from inside AutoCAD to perform this action. I assume the erase command is working fine??? Quote
eshhy Posted November 24, 2008 Author Posted November 24, 2008 Hi eshhy. I don't use a mac but I like the way you call machines other than the mac 'normal'. Hahaha, I laughed. BUT I was actually referring to the normal pc keyboard, as in terms of pc keyboards being the norm for operating autoCAD hehehe. And yes the erase function is working. I guess I was just looking for way to erase objects that only involved hitting a button on my 'special' mbp keyboard =]. Quote

I just did a quick search on google and found this. There is something in there about remapping keys. Maybe it will help.... http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=351270 Quote
