maheshchandwadk Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Hi, We have 3 to 4 workspace settings in Autocad in which I am using Autocad classic setting. I have made Autocad classic seeting current and default in workspace setting but nowdays i am facing problem that while opening Autocad, drafting and annotation setting overcomes and always opens with drawing. I am unable to set Autocad classic style permanant. Quote
Dadgad Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Welcome to CADTutor. You SAVED your workspace, and set it as your HOME workspace? Quote
nestly Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 AutoCAD should restart in the same wordspace that was active when AutoCAD was last closed. Perhaps there's something in the startup routine or a WS switch in the shortcut? HOME workspace? "Home workspace"? I think I'm about to learn something new... teach me. Quote

maheshchandwadk Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 Yes, sometimes i see while opening Autocad it displays WSCURRENT (Autocad classic) : Drafting And Annotation and it opens with drafting & annotation. So The problem remains same. This problem was not there till i downloaded plug-in application provided by Autodesk but dont know the real reason. Quote
nestly Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Out of curiosity, how are you launching AutoCAD? Start Menu, Desktop icon, Double-Click dwg? Quote
maheshchandwadk Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 Yes. even i restart my pc and started again autocad as per your instruction in image but still it is reapeting with drawing and annotation wayo:) Quote
nestly Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 In your workspace settings dialog, as shown. Hmmm... I've never changed "My Workspace" so it's still Drafting and Annotation in all my versions (AutoCAD2011-2014) But I never actually work in that workspace. My AutoCAD has always launched the same workspace that was active when it was closed. Ditto for all the vertical flavors. So I changed it, closed and relaunched and it still opened in the previous workspace, not "My Workspace" so I'm not sure what that's supposed to do? Quote

I don't pretend to know THAT it does something, I merely know that it is an option presented in the worspace settings dialog, and I routinely set my prefered workspace to be my home workspace, although from what you are reporting it may not actually do anything, which begs the question, why do they present the option? nestly Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 If you start AutoCAD from a shortcut, check the shortcut properties. If there's nothing unusual there, try editing the shortcut per these instructions Startup Switches for AutoCAD If you don't start AutoCAD from a shortcut, or the Startup Switch doesn't work, then perhaps explore the acaddoc.lsp file. Dana W Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 (edited) Make sure the workspace you want to use is "Moved Up" to the top of the workspace list in the dialog Dadgad displayed earlier. That helps, at least emotionally, it helps. I once had a similar problem at work several years ago. Turns out the Drafting Coordinator would make the rounds of the 4 drafter's computers on Saturday and check drawings on the C drives for progress. He would switch workspaces on us because he liked the ribbon. Of course, the ribbon would come up on Monday morning. This guy trusted no one, ever. Yet, he always left his keys out on his desk all day. I wonder if he ever figured out who re-programmed the default of his car's memory positions on the power seat. He was only 5'-6" tall. When he got in his car one Friday night, the seat slid all the way back as far as it would go. That's almost 18" in a Crown Victoria. Edited September 21, 2013 by Dana W Quote

Did you remember to FIX his mirror positions too? Quote
Dana W Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Dana, outstanding! Did you remember to FIX his mirror positions too? Naah, missed them. Too bad. That guy was lucky he was a small person. If he had been huge, I, uh um, they would have programmed the seat to go the other way. I had forgotten about that story for years, until just the other day when I got into my wife's Volvo V70 station wagon, and the memory seat mashed me up under the steering wheel. My wife is only 5'-1", and I am 6'-1". She also keeps the tilt/telescoping wheel all the way out and down. That doesn't leave much room. The only things missing were the dirty water, two droids, Princess Lea, Chewbacca and Han. Quote

Yeah, I've been through that mill before, I am 6'-2", feels like you have been put into a trash compactor, rather disconcerting, especially if one is used to manually adjusting seating position.
