Dizzle517 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I need to create a LISP to prompt for the necessary variable value to solve for the deflection of a structural member using D=P(L*L*L) /48 EI. D=Deflection P=Force in center of span L=Length of beam span E=Modulus of elasticity I=Moment of inertia (beam width x (height x height x height))/12 Quote
ReMark Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Do you do this type of work often? I ask because I believe there is a Beam and Column Calculator in Autodesk Inventor. Quote
Organic Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Why not just do it in Excel? You won't have many differing sections or beam lengths (if trying to keep them as standard as possible) so you wouldn't need to do much work in Excel and then transcribe the results to AutoCad. That deflection equation only works for simply supported members as well. Quote
BIGAL Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 What about 5/384 ! Like organic your better of with the point load at any point on the beam formula why not calc Fb as well ? 2 point loads etc I am sure if you search you will find some really good free beam cals software. Anyway (setq deflection (/ (/ (/ (* p (expt L 3.0)) 48.0) E ) I) ) Quote
