I remember years ago, there used to be a way to shift the letters, or x's like in a fence linetype, that would cross over another line. I have an OHW linetype, and the OHW keeps crossing over lines. I remember it is out there, but I dont remember if it was a Lisp, or an actual Autocad command. I know Im going back aways, but any assistance is greatly appreciated

I've never heard of a native AutoCAD command that could change the spacing of letters incorporated into a linetype. Is this even possible using lisp?

in Land Development

Type "LT" in Command Line ,Select Load ,Select File and Load "AeccLand.Lin"

after that select "BARBWIRE_1" & "BARBWIRE_2" for Fence Type Line Type

gS7: The OP is using an overhead wire (OHW) linetype. What is accomplished by substituting the barbwire linetype in its place?

It would help to see a picture of the problem and also the linetype definition file.

But in the absence of that, I would guess that the linetype is defined with a Standard text style and the font has been changed in the standard text style.

Could this be what the OP is talking about?

If that were the case, I would break the line at the crossing point, and then no letters would be affected.

But we should await the OP's response.

That was my interpetation of the OP' statement.

If the OP is using polylines with several verticies changing the setting of PLINEGEN would/could affect the position of the letters in the line type. But this is a general setting and, AFAIK, cannot be applied to individual polylines. It would also be adhoc and a bit hit and miss, you would have to be extremely lucky to solve all the problems at the same time.

Or insert an extra vertex at each crossing point and set PLINEGEN to 0.

What ReMark has is close, but without the vertices. What it was, was either a command, or a lisp routine. In my old age, I cant seem to remember, but when input, it would actually move the OHWs along the line, and you could choose a stopping point for the OHW's, instead of breaking the line. like I said this was a LONNG time ago, and dont even know if its available with the newer versions of Cad, but I cant see it not still being used.

I've used AutoCAD for a fair number of years and do not ever recall a native AutoCAD command capable of doing what you describe. Could you have been using a different CAD program?
