coffeetime Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 is it advisable to purge 'nested items' when purging. i try to get my dwg as clean as possible so only the relevant settings are present. also are blocks such as *D1 (which comes up in the list) advisable to be purged? my boss reckons that purging such deletes some necessary info from file. ta Quote
nocturne00 Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 its ok as long as the drawing is already final. you wont have to worry about purge deleting drawing entities in use. Purging of nested items is like deeper purge, for example. a block within a block within a block. normally it would take 3 purge to delete the 3 blocks,,, purge with purge nested items will do it in 1 purge Quote

nocturne00 Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Nahhhh, as long as you have a block library where you keep all your blocks then its ok. thats why I also mentioned the drawing being final, thats the best time to purge the file. if need be that a purged block is needed again then just reinsert it in the drawing file from your block library Quote

coffeetime Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 ispose it is just a listed object? Quote
coffeetime Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 we use microsoft groove as we have people working in different cities so it is important to purge to upload files - ta Quote
NBC Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 blocks that are indicated as *d20 etc were originally a dimension or a leader. they take on the form of *d20 etc once they either have been exploded or deleted. Quote
nocturne00 Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 *d20? where is it classified under the purge dialog box? is it a layer, dimstyle, textstyle, etc. Quote

NBC Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 as a quick test: 1. Save your drawing in your normal way. 2. Open the Purge dialogue, expanding the Blocks item. 3. Create a horizontal dimension. 4. Delete the dimension created at step 3. 5. Open the Purge dialogue, expanding the Blocks item. You should notice a new 'block' that will begin with *D...... Quote
