MSSmith Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 I would like to create a custom line style that uses a filled shape. Its basically a thick directional arrow, that the location could very well be modified to satisfy design layout. So, far I have not been successful, I created a 'shape' that starts as a closed polyline and a solid hatch. That process does not recognize the hatch. The file attached is the 'arrow' I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. Mark Quote
ReMark Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 There is no attached file. Were you using the Express Tools MKSHAPE command? Quote
MSSmith Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 Yes, I did use Express Tools to attempt to create the shape. It created one, just without the Hatch, rendering it not what I need. File takes seemingly an eternity to "upload", that's why it not attached. Mark Quote
ReMark Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 (edited) Well this website would have no problem uploading a file of that size. Question is why is the file size so large to begin with if all you have is a solid filled polyline arrow? It should be about one tenth that size or less. How do I know? I just created one myself. How long is the arrow? 10 feet? Alright, I think I see the problem. The MAKESHP command does not like hatch patterns whether they are normal or solid. Use a dense hatch pattern to fill your arrow then explode it. Now try the MKSHAPE command. It should work. Yes, it does work but it looks like $#!+. I have another idea. I'll be back. MSSmith Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 Thank you for that idea. I will give it a try and see what happens later today. Again, thanks for your help Mark Quote
ReMark Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I tried one more time using a two part polyline arrow. The tail was 0.25 in width. The arrowhead had a starting width of 0.00 and an ending width of 0.75. I invoked the MKSHAPE command, went through all the steps. When I then invoked the SHAPE command to insert the shape into my drawing there was no width showing for the two parts. Just one long line equal in length to the tail and the head. Failed! Sorry, but for the moment I do not have an answer to your dilemma. There is a way I just haven't come across it yet. I'm almost positive that what you want has been done already. Maybe MKSHAPE isn't needed and just MKLTYPE is all that is required. Forget MKLTYPE; did not work. Dratz! Quote
