I am running autocadlt and opening up a very detailed drawing by an architect which was likely drawn on the most recent version of the autocad. When i go to select a certain area of the plan, elevation views appear in the background as i drag my selection with the mouse. The elevation views are not visible in the plan in the model space. All layers are on and unfrozen.

I am a surveyor and am trying to import the plan into my survey program (which only accepts files in autocad 2007 or earlier anyway). When I open the file in the survey program, for some reason the elevation views are showing and can not be turned off.

I tried to use the command erase, then "all" it tells me "2891 objects found, 19 not in current space". Does that have anything to do with it?

I have gone into the layer manager and selected all the layers and turned them on, and have unfrozen them

Did the proxygraphics command as well

Could it be because autocadlt???

Hi sirstevend

With regard to the 19 objects not in current space - that means they are in paper space. It could be the titleblock and associated data. The remainder of the objects are in model space.

You can do a save-as and change the drawing to a 2007 format. Underneath the file name box there is a files of type box where you can choose 2007.

As to the elevation view my first thought was it could be an xclip...but on testing it doesn't happen. Hard to say...are you able to upload the drawing?

Is it possible that you are dealing with a 3D drawing in LT?

Thanks for your replies! I also think it has to do something with me running autocadlt and the source file probably being generated from a 3d program. Its a major project, I can't imagine the design team not using the latest technology.

I've even tried to copy every single object and copy on to a new drawing with no success. Even though I can not see it on the screen, I must inadvertently select the object when i was trying to copy.

I am just so surprised that I can see this background layer in my trimble surveying program and not in the more advanced autocad lt. The survey program is full functional, its just annoying to have another drawing overlaid on the plan.

I was unable to upload the file, maybe its too big? (I tried to upload an excel document it allowed me to upload that).

What is the purpose of uploading a spread sheet and how is it going to help us in solving your CAD drawing problem?

lol sorry i didnt think i actually put on the post, I was just trying to test the site to see if it was because the cad file was too large....

We have had this problem with one client and the problem was the background colour of our graphics screen. Various objects and text did not have the colour of white/black but very dark blues and greys which were not visible on our normal black background. Try changing your graphics screen background colour to 254 and see if that makes your objects visible.

I don't think that your problem has anything to do with you running LT.

How large is the drawing file size? Can you upload it to DropBox?

Are there objects hidden behind an attached image file in the drawing?
