SuzanatParksNYC
Although I have repeatedly changed the options in the Dimension Style menu, and also from the properties box, in one of my files the Architectural tics are hollow lined, and in the other file they don't show up at all. I've also dragged the same dimension style that works in other files into these two files, but it doesn't correct the problem. any suggestions? nestly
It could be the visual style, or perhaps the arrowhead blocks were altered. Dragging a dimstyle from one drawing to another will not overwrite the dimstyle if it already exists, and it won't replace (arrowhead) blocks with the same name either. I'm not sure if there's an easier way, but you should be able to change all the existing dimensions that use that dimstyle to something else temporarily, purge the dimstyle (and the arrowhead blocks), then drag/drop the dimstyle from a working dwg into the problem drawing(s), then switch them back to the original dimstyle. If you still can't get it working, post one sample drawing of each, and we'll help you get it sorted out.
Dadgad
Welcome to CADTutor. If you choose a different arrowhead type in your properties, and it displays as you would expect, then I would say that nestly's assessment/solution is a good one. Purging the offending styles will be the key.
RobDraw
How about renaming the offending dimstyle? Then bring in the good one, and then put the existing dimensions on the style with the correct settings. Purge.
Dadgad
Better still, cut straight to the chase!
nestly
Simply renaming a dimstyle won't permit the the bad (arrowhead) block definitions to be purged, therefore when the "good" dimstyle is imported, it will still use the "bad" arrowhead blocks... (this assumes the arrowhead block have been redefined in the problem drawing)
RobDraw
You're right, but the block could be renamed also.
nestly
So the "lightbulb" finally came on in my head. Instead of jumping through hoops trying to rename, and purge the bad block definitions, simply copy/paste the whole drawing into a blank drawing containing the "good" dimstyle. The arrowheads will use the (arrowhead) block definitions already defined in the "good" drawing.
RobDraw
Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner.
SuzanatParksNYC
The last suggestion worked. Somehow I couldn't bring in the correct block into the dwg, and for some reason this dwg didn't have an architectural tick block. Thank you.
