willb Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I've some questions about the Properties Panel invoked by the CHange command. I've noticed some inconsistencies yet i'm unable to figure out what the reasons are behind them (learner driver). I tend to rely on these position details (particularly Z position) as I learn. When I create a 3D solid such as a box, then select it and look at the Properties panel there is a Geometry section with the X,Y,Z positions. After performing edits such as Press Pull or Slice to said box, these Geometry details vanish and are not listed. When I create a rectangle then extrude there is no Geometry section listed for X,Y,Z positions, likewise when drawing a circle and extrude. Quite puzzling. I thought this Properties panel would be the perfect place to modify such data numerically. If there is something stuck up in the air i'd list to just type in '0' to st it back on the ground, since I don't know how far off the ground it is to begin with. I've tried clicking the Z arrow of the move Gizmo then type in #0 expecting the Absolute Coordinate flag to move the object to Z 0 position, but this changes the Move Gizmo to the Rotate Gizmo. The other head scratching curiosity is why, when an object is selected than when Panning only that object is visible and the other objects i'm trying to pan in relation to vanish. I've tried various key combinations hoping to over ride this functionality with out success. Not sure if there is a system variable to change it either. Anyone one able to address these? Thanks Quote

Thanks what happens when you pan with no object selected? (i'm on 2008 and never use pan, so can't test myself, but i'm expecting similar functionality to CONSTRAINED ORBIT) Quote
willb Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 Hi Mike, When nothing is selected and pan, all objects are visible. The problem is, when I select the object, change the position of the Move or Rotate Gizmo on the object, then if I need to Pan and deselect the object, it never remembers the previous Gizmo position when selecting the object again after panning. mikekmx Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 ah. 2008 doesn't have the gizmo and i've no idea what it is or how it works so hopefully someone else will be able to assist.... Quote
Gatekeeper101 Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 (edited) Gizmo Functionality Having it remember where it was last is not available. Closest thing is "GTLOCATION" GTLOCATION: system variable sets the default location of the gizmo. The gizmo can be displayed at the center of the selection set (default), or it can be positioned at the 0,0,0 coordinates of the current UCS. http://docs.autodesk.com/ACDMAC/2014/ENU/index.html?url=files/GUID-7BD066C9-31BA-4D47-8064-2F9CF268FA15.htm,topicNumber=d30e47223 Edited December 4, 2013 by Gatekeeper101 Update answer is only for Gizmo question Quote
