JamFam Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 I'm working on a fire damaged 4 floor condo project.I have an xref zip folder sent to me from the original architectural firm. It's been unzipped. Now I have multiple drawings. Each with it's own xref. I want to be able to have a fully editable drawing (in this case of a 3 story condo). I want to be able to add or delete, at will, any part of the drawing without any concerns of messing up an xref file. How can I do this? Thanks Quote
ketxu Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Do you mean "BIND" method in manage Xref dialog ? Quote
RobDraw Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Binding inserts the XREF as a block. There are two options for binding, insert and bind. The bind option adds a prefix (the file name of the XREF) to all, layer, block, and style names. The insert option does not. There are advantages to each. Quote
designerstuart Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 sounds to me like you just need two sets of drawings, the original set, and your proposals. your proposals have the originals xref'd in. so now you can edit, delete, change anything in your proposals, but the original drawings will remain as they were. JamFam Posted December 7, 2013 Author Posted December 7, 2013 Yes two sets would be ideal. The original, and a set I can delete items from. The challenge I'm having is these drawings have multiple layers with many unwanted items i.e. electrical, surveyors markings etc. I just want to get down to be able to clearly see the walls, doors, windows and stairs. So how do I go about doing that in an xref drawing? What is "binding" and how would it help here? What are the steps to "bind" an xref? Thanks for your quick replies. Quote
