alijahed Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Hi All, Instead of double clicking on the boundary of a viewport and freeze a layer on that specific viewport, is there any quicker way to do the same for other Paperspace tabs at the same time? Quote
Dadgad Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Do you mean without Freezing it in modelspace? If not, then just Freeze it, instead of Viewport Freezing it. Then it won't display in any of your viewports. Quote
alijahed Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 Yes without freezing in Modelspace. Quote
alijahed Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 Freeze a specific layer in viewports in some of the Modelspace tabs. Quote
RobDraw Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 There isn't any other way to tell AutoCAD which viewport unless you have that particular viewport active. Quote
ReMark Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 How about the ._Vplayer command? You would have to invoke it while in a layout not in model space (at least that's the way I think it would work). Quote
alijahed Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 Thanks Gents. I think we all are on the same page there isn't any quick solution for it yet. I was hoping that like the sheet manager we have access to a platform which gives us the flexibility to manage our Viewports from the back-end. Anyway that's the way it is for now apparently. Quote
JonathonHull Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Hi, Is there a way where I can have layers inside layers? For example, If I have an "electrical layer", then inside this layer I could have "Powerlines", Underground Power", "Generator Supply", etc... Hopefully this is possible. Thanks in advance! Jonathon Quote
MSasu Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Welcome to the Forum, JonathonHull! You may want to look to layer filters - define a new one named "Electrical" and name the layers using a prefix (i.e. "Electrical - Powerlines", "Electrical - Underground Power", "Electrical - Generator Supply"). To create the filter use "Electrical*" for name. Quote
JonathonHull Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Thank you Mircea! I tried this, but when I print to *.pdf format, it does not have the layers inside layers (ideally I would like to use the file in *.pdf for a presentation. Do you know if there is another way possible to work with as *.pdf? Kind regards, Jonathon Quote
MSasu Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I don't know how/if you can achieve such thing from AutoCAD. Is this feature available in PDF file format? If yes, then may want to look for a tool to edit the PDF after export. Quote
alijahed Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 Cool feature you are looking for! Basically you want to group layers which I like the idea but to my knowledge there isn't such a thing and I have no access to AutoCAD at the moment to check the Layer Manager. Add it to Autodesk wishlist. Quote
