Bill Tillman Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I have created this rendering and for some reason the metal plate which is supposed to be non-transparent is showing up with some transparency. I'm using the diamond plate material that comes with AutoCAD. There is no transparency setting with this material so I can't set it to non-transparent. Short of trying some different materials, I was thinking there must be some way of resolving this. Is there? Quote
tzframpton Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 It is really transparent or is it just reflective, bouncing off some other items out of the view? Hard to tell.... Quote
Bill Tillman Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 No, it's not reflective and there are no parts on the other side of it to reflect back into it. I took a photograph of some real aluminum diamond plate and I'm tinkering around with that now. Rendering is as we all know an art and it takes a lot more tinkering around than one would first think. sigaukedenn Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 i would assume some times autocad has a brain of its own, however i would suggest that you repeat the procedure with a different material, if it does accept then returning the original diamond material will be of the expected state but if not, i would assume that the material itself is actually meant to be like that. Dana W Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Could that be shadows of the hinge bolts coming from some freaky light sources at an extreme oblique angle? Those black marks are not in line with the frame members behind the plate material. The other shadows of the hinge bolts look a little strange too. Quote
Bill Tillman Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 Can you upload the file? I can't upload this file but I can recreate a similar one. I've had some real issues with AutoCAD 3D stuff this week. See my other post for a real mind bender. Quote

I'll have to test this later, but I think if I took those bolts out of there it would still look semi-transparent. Quote
the downing effect Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 you could try adding a different material to back of the plate, I think the highlights off the diamond plate would still show through. Sometimes acad gets corrupted you could try copybase into a new drawing and re-render Quote

I'm just guessing based on some posts a couple months ago "How do I get rid of these weird lights way over there >>>> ". However, the misalignment of the shadows still doesn't look like transparency to me. Quote
