Hip Roof

Well I'm having this hard time on how to create a Hip Roof Plan...I found out from the previous post w/c was closed, that it can be done by EXTRUSION...but it might be tricky, someone said.

 

Well I want to know the process of doing it, or if there's other way to do it without using EXTRUSION...you might as well state it here.....:D

 

BTW I'm using AutoCAD 2005...hope to hear some of your ideas....thanks in advance:D:D

The other way of doing it is 3D surface (not a solid)

Here how;

 

Four Sided Faces

Command: 3dface

Specify first point or [invisible]: 0,0,0

Specify second point or [invisible]: 10,10,10

Specify third point or [invisible] : 40,10,10

Specify fourth point or [invisible] : 50,0,0

Specify third point or [invisible] : return

 

3 Sided Faces

Command: _3dface Specify first point or [invisible]: 0,0,0

Specify second point or [invisible]: 10,10,10

Specify third point or [invisible] : 0,20,0

Specify fourth point or [invisible] :

Have you tried pface it can have multiple points in it but must be in one 3d plane and yes definately works for 3D roofs, wrote Hip gable valley years ago in lisp

No it is not a "trendy (cool) roof" name, it's actually one of roof truss system in Architecture. I think the word "hip" came from the part of the roof called "girder" many carpenter called it hip ginder.

And what is a girder you say? It is a long horizontal beam support of the structure.

i prefer usinng the slice command........u have to extrude the boundary of the roof and make it a box the u slice alon the planes to get ur slopes.the slice command is one of the most essential tools in auticad 3d modelling
