tzframpton Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 This is something that has always bugged me but never thought to ask. When I move or copy an object, it'll show the coordinate distance as you move your mouse. The issue is, the coordinate bounces between the nominal distance based on the units, such as 2' - 7 29/32". Then it will change to some extreme number, such as 2.784807E+01. My first assumption is that the mouse cursor is getting off alignment with the relative start location, or some extreme Object Snapping is going on (OSnap on/off still does the same thing). Any ideas on this? Below is a quick video example of what I'm dealing with today. Thanks in advance! http://screencast.com/t/rdoVdoDbp Quote
steven-g Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I use metric and LT it doesn't do that ! Do you get the same thing in a new empty (1 item) drawing as well ? Quote
RobDraw Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 That is the decimal version of the nominal distance using an exponential expression. The "E" means multiply to the power of the number indicated. Quote

I guess I forgot to mention in my original post if there's any way to disable this from happening? Sometimes when I'm copying or moving something to a particular distance, I want it to stay as Architectural Units and not to this exponential expression. Any ideas on this? Thanks man! Quote
eldon Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 What is your LUPREC set to? I don't usually use imperial dimensions, but I tried on a new drawing from Scratch using English units, set the units to Architectural and then set Luprec to 8. The coordinate display often went to the Exponential value. When I set LUPREC to 6, the display stayed in feet and inches (or I did not see any exponential values) Quote

That's exactly what it is. I never knew there was a connection with the Precision of the Unit Type and the display precision of an active command. I turn my precision all the way up to 1/256 ( LUPREC = 8 ) and I knocked it down to 1/32 ( LUPREC = 5 ) and it went away. Not completely, depends on how zoomed in I am but it happens very rarely at this level of precision. Good find and thanks!! - Tannar Quote
