Tiger
Hi all, I have had a problem with my AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014 for a while now - but I don't think it's a specific Civil-problem. When I start a command that opens a dialog box (like Create Alignment) the dialog box is empty. If I move the mouse over the box, it want's to highlight stuff, but nothing is displayed. If I move the mouse outside the box or move the box around, it displays everything. If I click in a line where I can choose from a list, the list doesn't display until I have clicked a bunch of times. I have repaired the installation, no change. A coworker suggested it could be the HP Security tools that is messing with me so I have removed all of those, no change. I can't find anything specific via Google, but similar problems suggests that it could be a trouble with the registry. So my question is two-fold: 1: anyone know why this could be happening and how I can fix it? 2: anyone know if I can reset the registry, or just the AutoCAD-part of the registry? What would/could happen if I do that? TIA!
ReMark
A Repair will replace the Registry while a Reinstall will repair the Registry while reinstalling all files from the original installation. Have you considered either one of these options? Is your version of Civil 3D current with the latest service pack?
Tiger
Yep, I have repaired the installation as I said, no change. I have all Service Packs installed (and that's another pain that I will not go into here...), no change. I have reduced all the graphical "flare" of windows, no change. I updated .Net and the graphic drivers, no change...
Tiger
I recruited a coworker to explore what it could be, as he's got better Google-mojo than me. Do you know what it was? TeamViewer. A few weeks back, when this problem started, I had finally set TeamViewer to launch and log me in when I started Windows (since I use it pretty much all the time) and that (and other screen-sharing programs as well apparently) causes this effect. Logged out and turned TeamViewer off - and all boxes look normal. Peppar peppar - let's hope it stays this way!
ReMark
I was just going to comment that you were very thorough and had covered all the usual suspects. Now I see your problem is solved. Thank goodness for co-workers and Google. TeamViewer? Can't say I ever heard of that. What is it for?
Tiger
Sometimes the trick is simply to know the right keywords to type into Google - this time my mojo was a bit off. Teamviewer is a screensharing program, I can also take over a clients computer and show them how I mean. Very handy for support cases.
