Could you explain the question a little more

Posted

The book I'm going through says: Organizing Objects with Block & Groups then the subtitle is: Create and insert a symbol.

What does it mean the word Symbol?

The two words are basically interchangeable. A block is a collection of objects that is treated as a single entity. Most users, when creating symbols (ex. - ball valve) will do so as a block. It is easier to move, rotate, copy, etc. a block (single entity) as opposed to a group of lines, arcs, text, etc.

It could mean that one has created a block that is a symbol, and will insert the block (symbol) into a drawing. Generically as related to drafting, a symbol is a simple graphic that represents an object of far greater detail or of such small size that they cannot, or need not be drawn in detail. As we have blocks that are symbolic of trees, and light switches, simply because these objects do not need to be drawn in detail on say, a landscape or floor plan. Edited by Dana W
