When I am creating dwf files & I mostly use 'layout' option in plot dialguebox. but when i open that dwf file it opens in potrait mode. & we alos do not have option to rotate (which we have with pdf files)

so how to make sure that dwf files always gets created & open in layout mode so can be studied properly.

Goto Windows Start Menu, then Control Panel (Printers & Faxes may also be on your Start Menu).

Then select your DWF printer; check printer settings.

You may need to restart AutoCAD for the changes to have any effect on DWF outputs.

the answer made me think I was stupid, but after seeing the result

I rememberd that I had tried this thing before from the plot dialguebox also you can go to prerites of the printer & change the default output & it had given the same result as now shown in this image.

I figured out the cause fo my problem. i am using paper size ARCH D which is listed as arch D 22x34

how to make it 34X22?

Do as I mentioned earlier, and change the orientation to Landscape.

i did & that is why you cna see the paper (white background) in landscape(horizontal), other wise it was alos appering portrait(verticle)

so now the problem is as mentioned earlier the paper is represented in dimension 22 in. x 34 in, which we need to make 34 in X 22in, now how to do that?

Change the orientation in your Page Setup within AutoCAD to be Landscape also.

Hey NBC

If you don't mind looking at the drawing & trying the solution, I can email or pm you the drawing.

this is bugging me since a month & I was putting it off for quite some time.

Sure, no worries.

Should I get it working how you desire; I will post here the steps I took, for all to see.

Ok Dipali; I have had a little time to play with this.

Here are my findings:

1. I have made no changes to the file you sent me, and have therefore not saved it.

2. I had to shut down AutoCAD, then I went to Printers & Faxes Section of Control Panel. Found the relevant dwf printer.

3. Right clicked on it, and set the orientation to Portrait.

4. Applied and Ok'd the changes.

5. Closed Printers & Faxes, and Control Panel.

6. Restarted AutoCAD.

7. Loaded up your drawing file.

8. Issued the PUBLISH command, leaving all settings to default; except where it says Publish To ( I put a blob in the DWF File radio button).

9. Clicked on Publish.

10. Clicked on Select to accept the default location and name of the DWF file.

For some reason, when using PUBLISH the DWF file came out in Landscape Format; and when using PRINT or PLOT the DWF File comes out in a Portrait format; I have no idea as to why.

Also, for your peace of mind, I have now deleted your files from my system.

See if you can install that DWF Writer I posted a link for; then set that up in your Page Setup as the printer to use.

See if you get the same errors ?

Its solved:)

After downloading that writer it was giving me the same trouble.

while publishing it was giving the same error.

while playi ng in the publish dialoguebox, when i clicked on pagesetup, it highlighted the information at the bottom of dialgue box & it said that it replacing the ploter in pagesetup with dwf6eplot.pc3 becuase that is inbuilt with autocad. (and i remeber using that printer in previous job)

so I figured there is something wrong woth that pc3 file. it was not getting listed in control panel, so I went ploter manager from auotcad>deleted that file &

than started add ploter wizard & from my computer i browsed to that file dwf6eplot.pc3 & readded it.& guess what it had options of choosing the paper size bothways 34X22 & 22X34

so by selceting it 34X22 it soved my problem. so i was right from the beginning that problem was in how thw paper size is selected.
