davebin Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 After downloading and installing AutoCAD version 2014, some of the text in my drawings doesn't appear correctly. It's displaying a simplex type single line widely spaced font in lieu of the Arial Narrow that it should be displaying. I'm sure the .shx AutoCAD fonts are in the correct directory. And the Support file search path goes to this directly. But how do I know AutoCAD is looking for the correct path to the Windows true type fonts...which I suspect is the problem. Quote
MSasu Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 After you open one of those trouble-maker drawings, press to see if there were some font substitutions; after call STYLE command and check the font associated with said text style(s). It may happen that you used a non-native SHX/TTF font (that it, not shipped with AutoCAD/Windows), so will need to find it again and re-install. Or replace it with an existing, similar, one. Quote
davebin Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 You are correct. it's not finding Arial Narrow and substituting Simplex. only thing is the drawing looks fine on my back up computer. I'll look to see what that one is substituting and try to get Arial Narrow installed. Thank you. Quote
djmikel Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I just had this issue recently. Find the Arial TTF file (Arial Narrow is included). Double click and install. Go to Control Panel. Search for Fonts. Make sure the arial font is installed. And the final step for AutoCAD to see the font. REBOOT! Quote

djmikel Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 You would think so but, truly, it didn't recognize the newly installed font until I rebooted. Ain't technology wonderful. Quote
davebin Posted February 28, 2014 Author Posted February 28, 2014 Thanks all, it was combination of not having the font in all the correct places after all. I had some TTF's missing in the program files/Windows/Fonts directory. Quote
