barker Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Hello All, I was a dock worker with no CAD experience who was given an opportunity to draw one line electrical drawings for fire alarm at a friends company. After 4years on the job, a couple courses and books I think I have a “VERY” basic knowledge of what I’m doing but now they are talking about hiring a second person and I’m guessing he or she will not have experience either. So with all that being said I’m trying to clean up the insert box and the layer manager to reflect the blocks and layers we deal with so that it might be a little less intimidating and easer to explain. I have done this successfully with the exception of 15 Blocks. I have exploded every block to try and find where they are nested and even changed the color and size of them so they might be easer to find, I even copied the drawing purged all the blocks and they still remain……UNPURGEABLE. How do I get rid of these blocks! I have attached the copy that purged and they are the only 15 blocks in the insert.test.dwg Thanks Quote
wannabe Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Well you cant delete the "BLOCK" layer, so it must be because there is something on that layer. God knows what lol. I'll keep trying. Quote
lpseifert Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I can't seem to get rid of them either, you may want to try here... http://www.manusoft.com/Software/SuperPurge/Main.stm Quote
Luvrbcs Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 WBLOCK the drawing out. That will remove all layers, blocks, linetypes, etc. not being used. I tried it and it worked for me. Quote
eldon Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 if one saves down to r12 dxf, there are 17 blocks in the drawing:- Defined blocks. "$MODEL_SPACE" "$PAPER_SPACE" "AECB_DEFAULT_OVAL_1LINE_DR" "AECB_DEFAULT_OVAL_1LINE_RI" "AECB_DEFAULT_OVAL_1LINE_TE" "AECB_DEFAULT_OVAL_2LINE_DR" "AECB_DEFAULT_OVAL_2LINE_RI" "AECB_DEFAULT_RECT_1LINE_DR" "AECB_DEFAULT_RECT_1LINE_RI" "AECB_DEFAULT_RECT_1LINE_TE" "AECB_DEFAULT_RECT_2LINE_DR" "AECB_DEFAULT_RECT_2LINE_RI" "AECB_DEFAULT_RND_1LINE_DRO" "AECB_DEFAULT_RND_1LINE_RIS" "AECB_DEFAULT_RND_1LINE_TEE" "AECB_DEFAULT_RND_2LINE_DRO" "AECB_DEFAULT_RND_2LINE_RIS" Now they can be purged testA.dwg Quote
barker Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 Thank you everybody for your efforts. I not that familiar with the WBLOCK command, I tried it and it did not seem to work for me but I may have not done it right. Just curios, if I end up figuring out how to get the WBLOC command to delete the 15 blocks in the test drawing will it remove the other blocks when I try it on the none test drawing with the blocks I want to keep? barker Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 Thank you saving it down to r12 dxf worked. One last question, do I need to keep the paper space and model space blocks or can I purge them to without any adverse effects? Quote
mdbdesign Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Just use laydelete from express tools. Work on my machine Quote
Luvrbcs Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Yes, it will remove everything not being used. To use the WBLOCK command, select Entire drawing under Source (upper left corner) then select OK. Be sure to give it a unique name, you can always rename it later. If you are trying to make a Template file, you can also Insert the drawing into your template file and it should then allow you to Purge out the extra Blocks and Layers. I can not figure out what is different about these blocks that makes them unpurgable. Strange. Thank you everybody for your efforts.
