Can someone please help. Closed down the computer for the night got a load of up-date's from m/soft for my xp pro. Next day went and started up the system click on the short cut for Autocad 2012 message came up " This action is only vald for products that are currently installed" ( It is installed) Cad would not open. I get the same message when I clicked on Word and Excel. But Inventor Fusion 2012 and Fast Stone Image Viewer opens up ok. I've tryed to uninstall update's it's not lettting me do it. If someone can please tell me how to fix this problem that would be great. If not, how can I open up Autocad from the program files?.....Thanks in advance for your help.

Any chance you have a Windows Restore point on your computer that dates BEFORE the arrival and installation of the MS updates?

Hi mark thanks for the reply. No it took the Restore out as well.

Have you tried a REPAIR of the installation?

Hi Mark. I tried that too, with no joy. Now I'm embarrassed to say that I have just found out that my copy of xp pro is an hookey copy. Somehow the updates have pick it up and stopped me from using windows to launch cad ,excel and word because it's windows based. This is the computer I use at home, it had xp home on it (licensed). Some 6 months ago I took it in for repair and I was told he had up-graded it to xp pro......he didnt say it was hookey! Do you know how to install my home xp and get rid of xp pro? I've just tried to uninstall xp pro but it is not letting me.

I hope you can help. Many thanks.

I'd imagine you would have to completely wipe the drive otherwise who knows what might be left behind to sabotage your setup. I say this because you have two different versions of the program so it isn't like you could reinstall over what is there now and use your valid product key.

Thanks Mark for all your help. It looks likes M/S have talken out the digital signature and thats why the programs are not loading.

Taken out how? Not via the update?

AVG said that the digital signature was missing the up-date's are the only explanation I can think of. if you have any ideas I would be grateful.

Windows Security Updates will completely trash "hookey" (cracked, pirated) copies of windows. I think your only alternative is to run your computer repairman through a wood chipper.

Seriously. If the repairman installed a pirated copy of XP pro on your machine, he is a felon, and should be dealt with as such.

Thanks guys for all you input. Cleaned it right down and started again. A Pain in the arse put I think it's the right way to go :)
