alijahed Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Hi All, I couldn't find the answer for the following. How can I Print/Plot in PDF keeping the BLACK background of my paperspace in place? Can you please help me with this? Cheers Ali Quote
Dana W Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 This comes up every so often. What is your black ink cartrige budget like? You want colored lines on black? You will actually have to construct a solid black background for your drawing work, as in a rectangle solid filled with black, and then draw with lines set to any colors other than "white" (color 7) over that black background. Be warned, that none of the colors will show up very bright on paper, so little so that it is just a waste of time and a huge waste of black ink, in my opinion. A couple of hints; before you fill your rectangle, give it a bright outline color so you can find it after it is filled. Set the draw order of the rectangle and fill to "Send too Back". Is this Inventor? Your profile shows Inventor, yet you posted in the AutoCad General forum, and didn't mention what software you are using for this. My answer only applies to AutoCad. Quote
alijahed Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 Thanks mate, I am using both Inventor and AutoCAD as a mix. In terms of solid black, how do you create it? Hatch Solid? Quote
Dana W Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Thanks mate, I am using both Inventor and AutoCAD as a mix. In terms of solid black, how do you create it? Hatch Solid? Yep. One word was too short so I had to type more. I edited in a couple of hints on my previous post. Hit your refresh button. Once again, you will not be happy with the results. Many have gone down this road. The paper soaks up ink, and dims out the colors. Quote
alijahed Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 Don't worry for the ink I want it for the website Quote
Dana W Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 One other thing. If you are using a small format printer, like 8 1/2 x 11 inch letter, you can get black paper at the art store so you don't have to use ink, or make a filled background. If you use black paper, you cannot make white linework. White is the absence of ink, no way around that one. Again. the colors will be very muted. Quote
alijahed Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 As I said I don't need to print it on paper just need it for the website purpose Quote
Dana W Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Don't worry for the ink I want it for the website Oh. Well then, use what you need from my answers. That would have been extremely useful to know at the beginning of all this. Quote
alijahed Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 Sorry about it. Surely, your information would be useful for others late. Quote
RobDraw Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 If these are for viewing on the internet, then scaling is probably not important. Why not just take screenshots and save as image files? Quote
alijahed Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 Resolution is not as good as what you get on pdf. Quote
RobDraw Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Have you tested an image from a screen shot? I can't imagine that you would need a high resolution for viewing on the webpage. Also, I think the resolution of screen shots can be adjusted. Have you tried the hatch solution, yet? Posting both here would be a good test. Plus, it will give us a better idea of what you want the final output to look like. Quote
