Pauly75 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 (edited) I have been using Autocad for 20 years in Australia. All the text in my drawings I have used iso3098b.shx . I have just loaded Autocad 2014 on my PC and the IT department at the council i work for wont let me copy Iso3098b unless I can find out if it has been legally purchased (for legal issues including auditing etc) Is it free or does it have to be purchased to be used comercially? If it has to be purchased, where can I download it from? Many thanks, Paul Edited March 25, 2014 by Pauly75 Quote
Organic Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 The IT there sound like idiots. If you are in WA, point them to https://www.mainroads.wa.gov.au/BuildingRoads/StandardsTechnical/RoadandTrafficEngineering/TypicalProjectProcesses/DesignandDrawingPresentation/Pages/Drawing_Standards.aspx#.UzFDEIX4L_0 which shows you should be using that font. Let them sort out where to buy it from if they want. AS1100 makes mention of the font also I believe. It is/was a part of the AusFonts series although they went out of business many years ago. I'd be surprised if you could still buy it. Some commercial custom SHX fonts exist. These are not royalty free and cannot be distributed without the recipient purchasing copies of the fonts. An example is the Ausfont series produced by Graphic Computer Services, a company based in Western Australia. http://www.designcad.com.au/support/cad/autocad/fonts/fonts.htm Can you copy the font to your desktop (i.e. effectively copy the fonts folder, add your font and repoint the fonts directory to this custom fonts folder on your desktop)? Ifor legal issues including auditing etc Auditing of a font? Doesn't make sense to me. Who audits it? Quote
Organic Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Or alternatively use another font, let MainRoads & your bosses complain about it and direct them to IT. IT will change their mind soon enough. Quote
