pancake Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Hello guys, In my old pc with AutoCAD I was using shift for trim and extend when I want to use both command together. Now it's not working, and I don't know how to change it. Thanks for your help. Quote
zaphod Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 this might be of some help http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-LT-General/Trim-and-Extend-settings-mysteriously-changed/td-p/2215418 Quote
pancake Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 I don't know if my question was clear. You know when you are trimming some lines and you need also extend, instead for exit from the command trim and type extend, you just hold SHIFT. Can anyone know how to insert this option if it's not working..? Quote
resullins Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Are you positive the line you're using as a fence is on the same Z plane as the lines you're trying to extend? There's no system variable to control that. It should just work. Can you post the file you're working with? Quote
zaphod Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 is this "new" p.c. new, or new to you with an old users install that may contain some auto loading lisps? Quote
pancake Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 I tried to open a new drawing and it doesn't work. It's the first time I use AutoCAD in this computer, also I remember I had another option in the old one if you hold ctrl shift and the wheel of the mouse it was going in 3d automatically. Please help, thanks. Quote
ReMark Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 You have to press Ctrl+Shift and press down on the mouse wheel to go into 3D orbit. Maybe you are doing it wrong. Quote
pancake Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 I am sorry Remark but in my old computer I was doing only Shift+mouse wheel to go into orbit, I am absolutely sure about that I was doing like that for 12 months. Quote
pancake Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 And I was doing the same with trim and extend. Quote
zaphod Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 are you typing the command "trim" out fully, or just "tr"? try the full command name and see if your results are the same. is extend acting the same way? Quote
ReMark Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 And I was doing the same with trim and extend. Are you sure the lines are coplanar? What is EDGEMODE set to? Quote

I think you mis-remembered. I just tried it in AutoCAD 2010 and you have to press both the Ctrl+Shift keys before pressing the mouse wheel. Quote
pancake Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 I use and used AUTOCAD 2012. My edgemode says 0 Quote
ReMark Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I use and used AUTOCAD 2012. My edgemode says 0 Yes, I know what you are using but if it worked the way I said it did all the way back in 2010 and it works that way in 2014 then it stands to reason it works the same way in 2011, 2012, and 2013. I tested 2010 and 2014. When did the problem first occur? Did you have any problems during the installation of the program? Did you try shutting down your computer, waiting 20 seconds, rebooting, then opening AutoCAD to test again? Have you tried changing your Workspace? Have you tried resetting your Profile? What other problems are you experiencing? You've mentioned two so far; there could be more. Quote
