MikeP Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Ive reached a problem, where i now need to upgrade auto cad. I use 2 different softwares that are piggyback programs that run inside cad. I program a CNC machine with these softwares. one is Router-Cim and the other is Microvellum. my problem is that i am running 2006 cad. but i need to upgrade Microvellum, i cannot upgrade microvellum because the latest updates are not compatible with 2006. so i want to upgrade to 2009. but if i do that and loose 2006 i will not be able to use Router-CIM. Router-CIM is only able to work with what is called autocad cam companion, which is autocad but is modified/developed by router-cim and sold as a package only supplied by router-cim So Can i run 2 different versions of cad on my computer at the same time. i will keep 2006 AutoCad Cam Companion/Router-CIM and also have 2009 AutoCad for Microvellum?? GhostRider Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 definitely, you can run multiple versions of autocad on the same computer without problem Quote
Tankman Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 I run '05 and '07 on the same computer. Easy enough. One problem, which I now avoid, is using a registry cleaner. Ouch! Gave that practice up long ago. Quote
papagyi Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Sure!I used last 4 month acad 2006 & acad 2008! Quote
BOB'27T Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 I've got '07 LDD, '08 C3D and '09 C3D loaded on mine. Quote
rkent Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 If you are on subscription then you only need one license per computer. You may run previous versions of a license you have upgraded provided they are on the same machine and are only used one at a time. So don't buy a new license, just move to subscription, if you aren't there already. Cross-upgrades don't apply. But it sounds like you are talking about plain AutoCAD so you should be good. Quote
ArdenHTF Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 definitely, you can run multiple versions of autocad on the same computer without problem Just curious as to why a person would want or need to run different versions? Also, if someone is running different versions, why is there a conflict with a registry cleaner? Thanks, Arden Quote
MikeP Posted December 9, 2008 Author Posted December 9, 2008 Just curious as to why a person would want or need to run different versions? Also, if someone is running different versions, why is there a conflict with a registry cleaner? Thanks, Arden just because i have 2 different softwares that use cad. one can only use 2006 and the other i need to use 2007 and up. the first software forces me to go through there company which is like twice the price to upgrade. so i will lleave that 2006 version and upgrade from somewhere else so i can use the second software. Ritch7 Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 dosent matter how many different versions of cad you have on a system as long as their all legal and licensed or are in "trial" just seems to be silly if you have say acad 06 , 07 and 08 on 1 machine, just wastes a huge amount of space, if they were different programs eg inventor, LT, cival 3d etc I could see the point.
