Spaj Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Hi Is it possible to redirect the optional .bak file to a folder other than the .dwg source folder? Our company has a policy of turning off the .bak file creation option to reduce storage/backup space. I would prefer to keep them but on a local drive. Quote
Tiger Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Try the MOVEBAK-command, it sets a new location for BAK-files. I hope your company has a solid back-up system in place, BAK-files have saved my bacon numerous times. Quote
ReMark Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Your company should keep it enabled. If they want to keep the space used to a minimum they can always batch delete all BAK files on a weekly basis. Quote
Spaj Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 Try the MOVEBAK-command, it sets a new location for BAK-files. Thanks for the pointer, will try it out. You're preaching to the converted. I think it's false economy as well. Any form of work recovery is well worth the minimal outlay for additional storage devices. Quote
Dana W Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Mine overwrites the .bak file with each save. I don't even see an option to set it otherwise. This is a non-issue at best, a waste of resources to have someone figure out how to defeat it at worst. Quote
ReMark Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 MOVEBAK is a command found in Express Tools. LT users could probably write a script that would either or copy or move the BAK files from one folder to another. Quote
