Hi

Is it possible to redirect the optional .bak file to a folder other than the .dwg source folder? Our company has a policy of turning off the .bak file creation option to reduce storage/backup space. I would prefer to keep them but on a local drive.

Try the MOVEBAK-command, it sets a new location for BAK-files.

I hope your company has a solid back-up system in place, BAK-files have saved my bacon numerous times.

Your company should keep it enabled. If they want to keep the space used to a minimum they can always batch delete all BAK files on a weekly basis.

Thanks for the pointer, will try it out.

You're preaching to the converted. I think it's false economy as well. Any form of work recovery is well worth the minimal outlay for additional storage devices.

Mine overwrites the .bak file with each save. I don't even see an option to set it otherwise. This is a non-issue at best, a waste of resources to have someone figure out how to defeat it at worst.

MOVEBAK is a command found in Express Tools. LT users could probably write a script that would either or copy or move the BAK files from one folder to another.
