I cant create a layer

i can alternatively do '_la' on the commandline and create a new layer,

but why can't i create a new layer on layer properties manager?

Layers property manager either:

 

type ALT + N

 

click first symbol top left

 

right click in layers windoe and hit new layer

thats how i do it...

but when i close the layer properties manager, and re-open it,

i can't find the new layer i just created. .

(i even set it to current layer)

Expand your layer filter tree on the left of the layer properties window and check you aren't looking in all used layers? IF you are click the group above entitled all and it should appear in the layers name window..
