Using hillshading command with CIVIL 3D

Hi guys,

 

Has anybody ever used command "Hillshading" - if yes, maybe can me explain how to do that, because, whatever i try, doesnt help. Cant colour my surface. I have made 3d surface by contour lines.

Are you in Map and NOT civil 3d?
