ArdenHTF Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 I posted a question before, regarding changing the default for "plot preview" from PARTIAL to FULL, but no one responded, which tells me that there is no way to change it. So, my question to daily CAD users is: when and or why would you only want to partially preview a drawing that you are about to plot? In my limited experience, whether I was plotting the whole drawing, or an area that I picked, I would want to preview it all if I had a question about how it was going to look. So why is the default to only partially preview? Thanks, Arden Quote
Strix Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 we used to use it to check the drawing would fit on the page - it worked as an alarm Quote
ReMark Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 I believe it is set to partial preview to see if the drawing fits on the sheet you've selected at the scale you've selected. It may also be a hold over from the days when computers were much slower and a full preview would have wasted time especially if the drawing was quite large and complex. AutoCAD isn't the only software where a "default" setting is annoying. When using MS Access and searching a field the "Match" setting defaults to "Whole field" as opposed to "Any part of field". This just drives me bonkers. Quote
