Survey Figures vs Finish 2D Lines

Hello All,

 

 

I'm setting up styles in C3D 2014 to process field codes into plottable line work. I am familiar with Figure Styles and the Figure Prefix Library but am unsure of the line work these two entities produce. I know that survey figures are hard to edit. My goal is to create lines that civil designers, drafters and engineers can easily edit if needed.

When i bring in a field book i use quick select and select all survey figures and explode them. They turn into 3d polylines, then i use quick select again to turn the 3d polylines into 2d polylines. Then i change all the 2d polylines elevations to zero. I use points for grading and surface creation so i don't need line work to have 3D elevations, plus having surveyed information with elevation poses a lot of issues and its not worth it. The process of converting survey figures to 2d polylines with no elevation really only takes a minute or two. That's the best option I've found.
