Viewport colour to Xrefs

When I change the Xref colour using floating model space and viewport colour in layer manager, for a particular viewport, how can I keep that colour setting for when I replace that xref with a new Xref?

I have many of these to do and frequently need to replace the Xref with an updated Xref as the project proceeds, so I need to avoid having to do this everytime there is an updated Xref.
