ethand Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Hi guys, I've been searching the forums for ages but can't seem to resolve my issue! I have some large columns with voids in the centre of them which I am trying to hatch & they're giving me some grief! Roughly half will hatch correctly, with the void in the middle remaining unhatched, while the others will show correctly in the preview (if you are in the hatch command & hover the mouse over the area to be hatched) and then when you click, will hatch over the void. I've tried adjusting the gap settings (although this made no difference since the rectangles were created using the RECTANG command), I've checked the island recognition settings (they are set to 'Outer', which I think is correct!) and I've tried removing the X's from the voids to see if that's causing the issue, but the same thing will still happen. Can anyone tell me what's happening here & if there is any way to resolve this issue? Using AutoCAD 2014 on Windows 8 if that makes a difference... Cheers Ethan Quote

Dadgad Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Welcome to CADTutor. Are the columns identical? If so, why not just copy the hatch? Might there be an issue with the elevations of the rectangles in those which are not working correctly? I believe they need to be coplanar with the column elements. What is the linetype of the rectangles? If you post a drawing with a couple of these troublemakers, somebody will take a look at it for you. You can just copy and paste part of your drawing into a new dwg if you want, should you be unable or not wish to post the original drawing. Quote
ethand Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 (edited) Thanks mate - I tried to reply with some screenshots but it says it's waiting on moderator approval... I'll try again if I can find the screenshots! The line type is just the normal default - not dashed or anything. It is also a 2d drawing & all of it was done from the 'top' view, so I'm pretty certain that they'd be coplanar. I'll do the whole 'move up by 600 billion & move back down by 600 billion' trick to be sure though... The only other thing I can thing of is that Hatch is getting confused by the angle of them - I've just noticed after posting that all of the troublesome columns are along one of the two angled walls. A couple along these angled walls have worked but most haven't. Unfortunately I can't really copy & paste the hatch across since all of the columns are set into walls of differing thickness & length... The centre void parts are all identical though... EDIT: Found the screen shots. This is how it previews (and is supposed to hatch) but it actually hatches like this: Edited May 26, 2014 by ethand Quote
ethand Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 Hrrrmm my posts keep deleting themselves...? I replied about an hour ago & just came back to edit the post to add in the screenshots again & it disappeared after I edited?! Are we not allowed to post screen shots? Quote
