Drawing internal Archimedes' Screw

I am attempting to draw an internal Archimedes' Screw in Inventor 2015.

 

Internal Screw.ipt

3D-Sketch --> Sweep --> Type=Path & Guide Rail --> Output=Surface --> Vertical line as profile

All OK

Cannot select construction line as Path.

 

What have I done, or what am I doing, wrong?

Delete the 3D sketch.

Select the Coil command and set the output to Surface.

Select the Coil construction line as the axis.

Set the desired Height and Pitch (turns).

 

 

I would never ever use the 3D sketch helix - I don't understand why it even exists since it is difficult to fully constrain/edit.

You only need 1 simple sketch to define the coil.
