phankhanhvan Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Hi, I am new to AutoCAD paper space, so please help. I try to xref a title block onto one layout, I have set up the layout to the size I need, then I Xref a title block onto this layout and it just appears out of space. I mean the title block does not sit on the center of the paper layout. Anyone please teach me how to fix this problem... Thank you. Quote
MSasu Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Please check in the drawings you were attaching as xref that left-bottom corner of the frame sits in origin and also that INSBASE system variable is set to 0,0,0. Quote
phankhanhvan Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 Thank you so much but I have checked the INSBASE and it is 0,0,0. Kind regards, Van Quote
RobDraw Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Please check in the drawings you were attaching as xref that left-bottom corner of the frame sits in origin Did you check this? If the XREF is set-up properly, then the page set-up is not done correctly. Without seeing the files, all we can do is guess unless you can provide more information. Quote
phankhanhvan Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 Thank you so much. I tried to move the title block to the origin, and it seems to move abit and closer to the center, but its still not right in the center. I dont know much about the page set up, so probably I set it wrong, this is how I set the page: Right click on the layout - Page Setup Manager - Modify - in the Printer/plotter Name: DWG to PDF - Paper Size at A1 - Plot: Layout - Scale: 1:1 - and finally OK. and for moving the Title block to origin, I did Move command, then choose 0,0. Thank you so much for your helps. Kind regards, Van Quote
nestly Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 As Rob suggested, if you can attach the a sample drawing, as well as the titleblock (xref dwg) we'll probably be able to get you going in short order. Quote
RobDraw Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 In the title block file, draw a rectangle the size of the paper and set the lower left corner at (0,0). Center the title block in the rectangle. Delete the rectangle and save. In the referencing file, if it is open, reload the XREF. In the page set-up, select the "Center the plot" option in the "Plot offset" section. Quote
phankhanhvan Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 Thank you so much guys, When I xref the title block, it is still not in the right place automatically. So I have tried to xref first, then set the page later and choose Window with Center the plot, and it works. So many thanks for your helpful instructions. Kind regards, Van. Quote
irneb Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Inside the Title Block DWG file (the one where you'd edit the linework of the title block), make sure the lower left corner of your TB lines is on (or very close to ) 0,0,0 in World Coordinates (not some UCS). Forget about the InsBase (it sometimes doesn't work properly), just ensure it's also set to 0,0,0. Now your title block (when placed as xref on a sheet) is not much different from a normal block. Its insertion point is where the 0,0,0 from the original drawing was (so if you followed the previous paragraph it should be at the bottom left corner). Change the block (note an xref is a block - just one that is read from an external file) using the properties palette: ensuring it's placed at 0,0,0 (at least to start with). Next, right-click on the tab for the paper space and select "Page Setup Manager...". In there click the Modify button - this should open a dialog very much similar to a plot dialog. Choose a printer (I generally set this to DWF6 ePlot.pc3) and choose the page size you want. In the Plot area, under What to plot it should default to Layout - I'd recommend you change this to Window (but it's up to you, you could also use Extents but remember not to place stuff outside the TB then). Under Plot offset, I'd advise turning on "Center the plot" else you'd need to play with the X/Y values to get your TB nicely centred and not be cut off due to printer bleed margins. Finally click OK & Close, your layout should now be updated to look correct. To avoid repeating the last paragraph - while inside the Page Setup Manager you can save a setup by giving it a name. Thereafter you can much more quickly simply apply the named setup to the current sheet (note to apply the same setup to multiple sheets in the same DWG you might want to use an old Lisp of mine http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?80461-Page-Setup-Manager&p=851675&viewfull=1#post851675 ). You can even import setups from other DWGs. And most useful, you can use these named setups in the publish command to plot multiple sheets and/or DWGs in one go. Just be sure to use the same insert point for each TB you place on a sheet, else your setup might cut it off. Quote
