Clipping in model space to isolate objects

I stepped away from cad for a few years now I cant remember a command that I used often. You would enter "cv" or "cx" (or something similar) to pick a point in front of and object in 3d model space, then pick another point behind the object. The command would then show you only what is between the two points. You can then go on to model in that clipped plane. Thats it, really quick. I can only find people talking about 3dclip and its definitely not 3dclip.

Any suggestions?

i guess no-one knows.

it may have been a custom command it was calling up.

 

Doesn't autocad try and autocomplete command text when using keyboard entry?

Could have been a custom. Had lots of EAS guys at that job setting up tools, etc.

I've not seen this natively in AutoCad. Some of the point cloud addon programs that run on top of AutoCad have this option though. So it must be programmable.

It almost sounds like Live Section using the Boundary option? But it requires a couple more picks than what you are describing. Also, the keyboard shortcut may have been modified when you were using CAD so that typing CS or CX would activate the command (sectionplane or other). My best guess is that your keyboard shortcut started a macro or a lisp that utilizes sectionplanes in relation to the X or Y planes of your model.
