Worsel Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Hi jdavid10 I know this is an Old Post but i hope i may be of some Help to you . I deal a lot with Maps for land registry, building sites, planning permission etc. General they are smaller scale maps so the accurately is Important. This is what I do ... If the Map I receive is in Paper Format, I use my Photocopier Toshiba eStudio166 (A3) or OneTouch Visioneer (A4) to scan the Map. I save the Image as a .pdf Open Adobe Reader XI and use the EDIT > "Take a Snapshot" to Cut the Part of the Map i want to use - Note the "map" part of the Drawing has co-ordinates in the corners in this case 630260,768060 -- 631060,768710 Now I know the Map should be 800 x 650 .. I Open AutoCAD, set the Limits to be outside the size i require and PASTE the Snapshot Right Click on the inserted Image and select "properties" The Object Inserted into AutoCAD is an OLE NOW - you can set the MAP to the correct co-ordinates, BUT more importantly you can set the Size of the map BOTH x and y ratios !!!! ( set "Lock Aspect" to NO ) I can now trace around Fields, Sites, using Polylines and if the polyline is closed, I can accurately find the Area of sites, There is a PROBLEM !! - The Object Inserted into AutoCAD is an OLE, and I can not get this to PLOT .. SO IF SOMEBODY CAN TELL ME HOW I CAN GET IT TO PLOT !! Great .. I do know if you insert the Object as a TIFF or a JPEG it will Plot -- BUT you cannot "correct" the Map - i.e set different X and Y scale factors . there is NO "Lock Aspect Ratio " Option !! I use AutoCAD 2007 at present, before I had AutoCAD LT 2000i - ( which had the "Selectable" & "Lock Aspect Ratio" Options) If Somebody in this Forum can help me with the Plotting Problem, I would be grateful. SLW210 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I have moved your post to a new thread OLE not Plotting in AutoCAD Drawing Management & Output since it is not Civil 3D related, but plot related. Quote
SLW210 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 You might look at this http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Some-OLE-objects-do-not-plot.html Quote
Mike_Taylor Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 We had an issue with OLE objects (in our case an excel sheet) that would shift itself down when plotting, the workaround we found was to check the "plot upside down" button and everything plotted fine from there. It was kind of a strange bug, not completely like yours but give it a shot maybe. Quote
RobDraw Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Just another example of why not use OLEs. Quote
