MS-S Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Is there a command (other than Copy>Move to End) whereby the tabs in layout view can be re-organized? I have some plan sets with as many as thirty sheets, and would like to be able to arrange them so that they are in the same order as the sheet index indicates them to be. Thanks! Quote
lpseifert Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 I don't know about 2007, but in 2008 you can rearrange by clk-dragging the tabs. Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Also you can Ctrl+LClick to select multiple tabs at once, this allows you to move multiple, non-adjacent layouts together. For Example if you have these layouts: |Cover Sheet||Foundation||Floor Plan||Electrical||Elevations| You can highlight just these: |Cover Sheet||Foundation||Floor Plan||Electrical||Elevations| And move them both here at the same time: |Cover Sheet||Floor Plan||Elevations||Foundation||Electrical| Quote
MS-S Posted December 12, 2008 Author Posted December 12, 2008 Apparently 2007 doesn't allow click/dragging of the layout tabs. That method doesn't seem to work for me. Quote
dtkell Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 There was an application from ResourceCAD international called LayoutOrganizer. It would allow you to do what you wanted. As the ability was integrated into later versions, I don't think it is available anymore. I do not remember what versions it was compatible with. I have a copy of the .exe file. If you want, let me know. Quote
MS-S Posted December 13, 2008 Author Posted December 13, 2008 Thanks for the offer dtkell, but I've just received some information from my local AutoCAD distributor which make upgrading to 2009 almost irresistable. I'll probably be going that route shortly....appreciate it, though! Quote
dtkell Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 No problem. I am still using R15 and put it to use frequently. Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Just be ready. The ribbon is the biggest change to the user interface since toolbars. Expect some lost productivity while you try to come to some balance on the new vs. old. I won't say its better,I won't say its worse, but it really does is different. Google "autocad 09 ribbon" to see what I mean. Quote
MS-S Posted December 13, 2008 Author Posted December 13, 2008 Hi, Max - thanks for the heads up regarding the ribbon interface. I've read quite a bit about the changes that AutoCAD 2009 presents, but before I make the leap I'd like to know if 2009 is stable, and not laden with too many bugs. What do you think? Also, isn't there an option to change from the ribbon to a more "classic" interface? I know we've gotten somewhat off-topic here, and I apologize for that..... Michael Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 If you've gone off topic, I've laid the breadcrumbs. 09 is more stable now than when it was originally debuted, make sure you install the service packs. There are still some bugs and some commands have changed, but it really depends on what you've used most out of the earlier releases. You can revert to a "classic" view and there are many threads out there on how to do this. I would recommend that you download the trial, DON'T import your current profile and play around with it a bit. Then spend some time customizing the interface. You may find something that suits you better than the classic toolbars. But get used to the ribbon, I don't think its going anywhere by the looks of all of Microsoft's latest releases. Where Microsoft goes design-wise, Autodesk soon follows. Quote
Biscuits Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Here's one thanks to Luis ;; 2002 by Luis Esquivel ; ; This routine will sort layout tabs in alpha-numeric order ; (defun C:TABORDER (/ cnt) (vl-load-com) (setq cnt 1) (foreach lay (acad_strlsort (layoutlist)) (vla-put-taborder (vla-item (vla-get-layouts (vla-get-activedocument (vlax-get-acad-object)) ) lay ) cnt ) (setq cnt (1+ cnt)) ) (princ) ) Quote
MS-S Posted December 16, 2008 Author Posted December 16, 2008 This looks very promising. However, I copied it and pasted to my ACAD.lisp with no result. Am I doing something wrong with this routine? Quote
MS-S Posted December 16, 2008 Author Posted December 16, 2008 Nevermind - I just realized that I had to type the TABORDER command to activate it. Thanks for your help - I appreciate it greatly..... Quote
