Burner Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Is this possible? I would like to edit the appearance of a logo and text. Ultimately this file will be converted to a DXF and used on a CNC machine. If so, is there a tutorial available? I'm using AutoCAD 2015, but also have access to Revit 2015 Thanks, Ryan Quote
rkmcswain Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 How was the PDF created? If it contains vector data, there are programs out there that can do a reasonable job of extracting this data back to AutoCAD geometry. (Example: http://dotsoft.com/pdfimport.htm ) If it was scanned to PDF, then you simply have a TIF image inside of a PDF wrapper, and you are looking at raster-to-vector conversion, a much less precise process. lrm Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Save the image portion of the pdf (logo and text) as an image file (e.g., png, gif or jpg). You can then use a raster to vector converter as noted by rkmcswain. The quality of the results will vary. I have used a free online converter http://online.rapidresizer.com/ to convert a png file directly to a dxf format of all polylines. I am not sure if rapidresizer will accept pdf as input. YOu will probably need to re-enter text maually. The raster png image is on the left and the converted dxf polylines on the right. Quote
BIGAL Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Adobe illustrator may do a resonable job of converting the image also. We have used that because we have it. Quote
rkmcswain Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Good example by http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/member.php?42856-lrm For something like that, you can insert the image and trace over it with polylines in a few minutes. Quote
nukecad Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 I have used pdfFLY in the past and it did a good job on converting Vector (and Raster) PDFs to .dxf on 41 HVAC drawings I needed to convert. Its not free but there is a 30 day free trial. For my review (from 2009 the programme has added new options since then), an example of a converted drawing, and a link to where you can download the free trial see: http://www.cadeverything.com/help/showthread.php/5277-PDF-to-DXF-conversion?highlight=pdffly Edit I have just checked the download link, the 30 day trial is still available and the price to buy has gone down since that review Quote
