MEP How do you put Mech Equipment on a circuit?

Is the only way to put a Mechanical mvpart on a circuit, to connect it to a disconnect(electrical device) and then put the mechanical load on the disconnect or is there a way to put the mechanical equipment straight on the panel without using a electrical device?
