mwardas Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I converted PDF into DXF file and cleaned it up and it look better than when you copy and paste. I used PDF2 CAD convert. As far as using design center it's okay but my drafts person would like something like Windows Explorer working with AutoCAD to do a search. I thought perhaps there would be a Lisp routine that would do just that. Hello, I was wondering if it's safe to install a demo file of the PDF2 CAD convert program? don't want to get a virus?! I'm currently tasked with updating hand drawn drawings to ACAD and have been tracing over raster images! Nasty business (using ACAD 2004). any tips would be helpful. Cheers, Michael. Quote
Cad64 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I was wondering if it's safe to install a demo file of the PDF2 CAD convert program?don't want to get a virus?! Why do you think you will get a virus? Where are you downloading the demo version from? If you download trial versions directly from the software companies, it's highly unlikely you will get a virus. By the way, this thread is 7 years old. When you have a question, it's best to start a new thread. Quote
nukecad Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I'm currently tasked with updating hand drawn drawings to ACAD and have been tracing over raster images! Nasty business (using ACAD 2004). I used to have to do this a lot, working with scanned old board drawings. I used to use an Autocad add on called WISEIMAGE. It runs within Acad, sets up its own toolbars, and lets you open image files, clean up scanning 'noise', add Acad content, snap to the raster image, edit the raser image, etc, etc. It will even convert the raster into Acad vector (with limitations of course). It will also convert the new Acad stuff and incorporate it into the raster if thats what you need. I have not used it for a long while, I used to use it with Acad 2002, as you are using 2004 with the old style menus you may have to search to find an older version. I won't give a link; just google WISEIMAGE FOR AUTOCAD. Quote
SLW210 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I created a new thread for your question in AutoCAD Drawing Management & Output > PDF2 CAD convert - safe to open *.msi file? Why do you think you will get a virus? Where are you downloading the demo version from? If you download trial versions directly from the software companies, it's highly unlikely you will get a virus. You might look into using AutoCAD Raster Design (Free Trial available). Quote
ReMark Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Anytime you download a file you should scan it with your anti-virus program. The other thing I recommend doing is to create a Windows Restore point prior to installation just in case something goes awry. Quote
