cadmikee Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I'm using AutoCAD 2012. You will have to bear with me as I'm normally a 2D user. I would like to create a 3D mesh from a set of levels I have drawn. Basically its like when you have a Topo drawing but I have manually drawn several points in 3D on the attached drawing, or lines where the end points will be the levels. I've read up about point clouds but this seems to be only available from imported data and you can't simply click on an endpoint and convert it to a point cloud. With the attached I expect to create like a smooth hump effect. Any ideas how to do this? Many Thanks Mike mesh.dwg Quote
ReMark Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) Won't those points give you more of a ^ shape just wider at the base? Well, I suppose if you use mesh smoothing the result would be less pointed. What are you trying to create? Edited January 8, 2015 by ReMark Quote
cadmikee Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 May be it will be a ^ but I would want to smooth it. Basically its to draw a 3D area of land. Imagine a topo drawing of a field with levels. I just want to manually draw the levels on a 3D plan so I can create a 3D surface. Similar to the attached but not as complex. Quote
ReMark Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) The drawing you provided is too uniform in my opinion as far as the spacing of the points and the heights. Edited January 8, 2015 by ReMark Quote
cadmikee Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 No - AutoCAD. The example was just that. I plan to set different point heights/spacing's, just like a topo. Quote
ReMark Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) I suggest you edit your Profile so it says AutoCAD 2012. Maybe there is something you can use over at the CADTools website. http://www.glamsen.se/CadTools.htm Edited January 7, 2015 by ReMark Quote
nestly Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 You might want to query the guys in the Civil3D forum as they're probably the best to answer terrain questions. In the mean while, here's my attempt LOFTing Splines. Quote
BIGAL Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Search here YMG has posted a triangular irregular network TIN code that will read points. Quote
