ReMark Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 3D has been a part of full AutoCAD for a long time. It could be done using AutoCAD 2004 which is what you have listed in your profile. Your computer should be able to handle doing 3D. At some point though if the 3D model is too complex and your drawing file size starts to grow you may experience problems working in your drawing. yaim229 Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 that profile using :ACAD2004, is 3rd CAD system, but only save ACAD204 dwg file. Someone tell me that R14 is better for simple 3D job. but R14 still work? I not sure? if 2014 version, acad.com can't order 2014 or R14? can you moved my thread to the Software & Licensing Forum. ReMark Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 AutoCAD R14 is no longer available. AutoCAD 2014 might still be available if your company is on Subscription. There are major differences between the two programs. I would NOT go back to R14. AutoCAD 2004 is capable of producing simply 3D drawings. Yes, you can only save to the 2004 file format or some earlier formats using AutoCAD 2004 but any drawings you create can be opened with later versions like 2015 for example. AutoCAD is the latest version of AutoCAD. AutoCAD 2016 comes out in early March I believe. AutoCAD R14 was released in March of 1997. AutoCAD 2014 was released in March 2013. That's a long time span between versions. AutoCAD 2014 has more 3D-related commands than R14. Windows XP came out in 2001. The fact that you are using a 32-bit OS means you are limited to the amount of physical RAM that can be installed without tweaking the system. Although you have 4GB RAM installed Windows may only recognize about three quarters of that. Quote
yaim229 Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 thanks information, but computer only XP 4GB RAM . possible to run for it? not sure, acad say 2014 last version support XP, 2015 or > maybe not support. that cost is major problem . 3D need around 3000 USD. but that 3rd CAD support 3D, less 1000 USD Quote
ReMark Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 If AutoDesk says 2014 will run under Windows XP I have no reason to doubt it. AutoCAD 2014 costs more than $3,000 U.S. I think it is now closer to $3,400 U.S. I have no idea what it would cost in China. Re: 3rd CAD. Are you talking about SuperCAD? Quote
nestly Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 AutoCAD got major improvements to it's 3D capabilities around 2007, so I don't think you want to go any farther back than that. I personally prefer AutoCAD 2011, (even over all the newer versions), and AutoCAD2011 works just fine on WinXP Pro 32bit 4GB Ram. Quote
BIGAL Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Have a look at maybe Briscad https://www.bricsys.com/en_INTL/bricscad/3dmodeling.jsp I don't use so no idea, also http://www.intellicad.org/learn-about-intellicad/ google the alternatives various people here will comment I am sure. Quote
