How to use Object Name vs Object ID

Is there a way to reference an object via it's name rather than via the ID.

 

I need to build a formula in a field but want to use a reference to the Block Name and Attribute Name.

 

Something like this:

 

BlockName1.AttributeName.Value + BlockName2.AttributeName.Value
