dumfatnhappy Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I'm trying to imprint on say 4 sides of a cube, anyway my problem is exploding text so I can extrude and thus imprint... I'm using express tools explode text command and it really butchers the text as shown. is there a better way to do this? or do we know what causes this? Quote
GP_ Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Try TextToGeometry by Sean Tessier, much better than txtexp. Quote
dumfatnhappy Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 couldn't find anything resembling text2geom(etry) ?? Quote
SEANT Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Actually, a 2015/2016 version currently awaits approval at the Exchange. that version can be found here, though: http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?90737-Text-To-Geometry-2015-Testing Quote
rkmcswain Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 TXTEXP is just doing a WMFOUT and WMFIN. If I'm not mistaken WMFOUT results depend on the zoom level in the viewport when you run the command. Zoom in on the text as close as possible before running the command. I see a big difference when I try it. Compare the top result to the bottom result. Quote
SLW210 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I recommend SEANT's Text to Geometry also. rkmcswain, yes, you are correct, TXTEXP is just doing the WMFOUT/WMFIN. You can also use Illustrator/Inkscape to convert Fonts to Outlines. Quote
JD Mather Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 If I'm not mistaken WMFOUT results depend on the zoom level in the viewport when you run the command. Learned something new today. Quote
