Is it possible in autocad 2000 to convert a plot file back to the original drawing file? If so, how do i do it?

Not the original file, no. The underlying drawing structure (in particular layers and blocks) has been stripped on the way to the .PLT file.

Back in 2000 your plot file would probably be to a HP pen plotter so 8 pens representing line thickness, there are PLT to dwg out there Google.

Some more links to convertors at Tek-Tips.

If you have Express tools, there is PLT2DWG, only works on HPGL files.

FYI: ".plt" is not a file format, just a file extension.

A given .plt file could be HPGL, HP-GL/2, or some other graphics language.

But as noted, all the "goodies" such as blocks, layers, colors, etc. are generally stripped when making a plot file and you can't get it back even if you find a tool that will do the "conversion".
