DRNAMRON Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Is it possible in autocad 2000 to convert a plot file back to the original drawing file? If so, how do i do it? Quote
hugha Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Not the original file, no. The underlying drawing structure (in particular layers and blocks) has been stripped on the way to the .PLT file. Quote
BIGAL Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Back in 2000 your plot file would probably be to a HP pen plotter so 8 pens representing line thickness, there are PLT to dwg out there Google. Quote
hugha Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 http://www.theswamp.org/index.php?topic=31925.0 Best you'll get is a bunch of lines. Maybe arcs. Just possibly some text. But not the original file. Quote
SLW210 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Some more links to convertors at Tek-Tips. If you have Express tools, there is PLT2DWG, only works on HPGL files. Quote
rkmcswain Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 FYI: ".plt" is not a file format, just a file extension. A given .plt file could be HPGL, HP-GL/2, or some other graphics language. But as noted, all the "goodies" such as blocks, layers, colors, etc. are generally stripped when making a plot file and you can't get it back even if you find a tool that will do the "conversion". rkent Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Try this one also, I haven't ever used it so I can't say whether it works or not. http://www.noliturbare.com/convert/plt-to-dxf Quote
