I would forget about edgesurf, rulesurf, revsurf...surftab1, surftab2... all of those old obsolete surfacing commands. There are much more powerful surfacing comands in r2007 and later.

So i was playing with the edgesurf today a bit creating a pillow and thinking how did you elevate those grips up like that. Using Ortho and typing in direct distance works well to elevate them up on the Z axis.

big bro...

yes.. just turn on ortho on while in isometric view, then i move the points to z.... see big bro shift new post?

big bro rgarjr lets try it.... see if we can create it... hope we can:D

my pleasure, as long as im helpful ill help. If im not i wont ;)

I think you certainly have your surfaces figured out! I think you did a great job with the surfaces. I was just thinking about the table cloth you made. Since you used a loft command you can set the conditions for your loft at each curve. For instance you should be able to set an angle which it enters your last curve. I only have 2005 on my home computer so i cant remember the exact prompts you get.

big bro... shift.... thanks.... ok i'll try also the technique you just posted, see if i can do it... hope i can do it....:D

im really happy to be a part in this forum...

its really nice in here... people helping each other....:)

Here's a quick shot using loft. Using 13 splines as cross sections. I can see it now looks a bit like a bed cover.

Oh and yes, ReMarks cat came out of the cover this time around.. :D

arjun, acad07 added loft and sweep and those are probably the most helpful in this situation. 06 and older did not have these options unless you used some sort of autolisp. I believe helix was also added in 07.

rgarjr, i think it looks pretty good. loft is much faster to create surfaces like that isnt it:) I noticed both of you guys have some really pronounced "lumps" in your beds. Do your real beds look like that? I think if you focus on more subtle lumps and bumps it will be more realistic. If my bed looked like that i wouldnt want to jump in it:) Also you will be suprised what a good material selection and bump map will do for a flat surface. Try going subtle with your cross guides using loft and add a Bump map.

Students can download the latest Autodesk software for free from http://engineersrule.org

There is almost no difference between r2007 and later releases of AutoCAD in terms of 3D modeling.

Nope, just good ol Photoshop. I guess I could have also used an diffuse and opaque map for it.
