panfield Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Hi I have made a 3D model of a clip with a raised logo on it. I now need to modify the logo (turn it upside down). I have already tried exploding the solid and editing, but I can't use the 'union' command to rebuild it. I have also tried the 'delete faces' command but no joy. Any ideas for a quick and easy option. Regards Mike Quote
Attila The Gel Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 3dmirror should do the trick :_mirror3d Quote
panfield Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 I like your thinking, but i need to move the logo independently of the clip body. Quote
ReMark Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Could you post an image so we have a better idea what we are dealing with? Thank you. Quote
ReMark Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 It might be tough but could the logo be sliced off? An option of the Slice command allows the user to keep geometry on both sides of the slicing plane. Quote
Attila The Gel Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I suggest the same. slice it off! Quote
ReMark Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Confirmed. I just did it using the Slice command with the 3-point option and it worked. I was able to then move the logo completely off the top of the object. Quote
Attila The Gel Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 here now you can move the logo whereever you want Quote
GhostRider Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 yea not too hard, copy your object slice it off and slice off the text to , mirror and rotate to union back to it, here's a example file was too big, ( I wanted to play ) Ohhh I'm tooo slow !!! Quote
ReMark Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 No offense meant but teaching a person to do something and doing it for them are two entirely different things. Am I wrong or is this site not called CADTutor? Again, no offense meant. Quote
Attila The Gel Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 none taken! your right though, but if I were him I'd still try to do it myself! maybe its to late but i'll take the right steps. Quote
GhostRider Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 True REMARK, hopefully anyone would take a file as a example and still work through the process so they know how to do it the next time the problem come up to learn.. I have to actually do it to explain how myself but I think it was meant in the spirt of helping... Quote
ReMark Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 "...in the spirit of helping." Truer words were never spoken. Quote
